Sport Fishing |
  |
|
The
Gulf of Papagayo is one of best sportfishing destinations in the
world. It is particularly noted for great numbers of Pacific
sailfish, some in excess of 150 pounds; striped marlin to 275
pounds, and blue and black marlin, some approaching 700 pounds. It
is also known for record class roosterfish. Sixty to seventy
pounders are almost always available. All billfish and roosters are
catch and release.
For the really big fish, larger Boats are best for offshore fishing.
Usually accommodating 5 to 8 people, they are generally priced
around $650 for a half day and $850 for a full day. Depending upon
the boat.
The
area also boasts a variety of other fish including wahoo, yellowfin
tuna, and dorado. Additionally, there are amberjack, snapper,
grouper, cabrilla, and jack crevalle.
For these fish, smaller boats (panga's) are best and you don't have
to go out very far from shore. Usually accommodating up to 4 or 5
people and generally priced around $275 for a half day and $450 for
the full day |
